A night at the circus

With the grandparents looking after Octavia, Ky and I have been taking the opportunity to enjoy some dates together. Last night, we went to Cirque du Soleil.

If you haven’t been, I HIGHLY recommend it. Whether you’re young or old, there is a sense of wonder, magic, and amazement seeing acrobats and circus performers hurl themselves in the air. The gasps from the crowd aren’t forced, they’re real.

This was the second time I have been to Cirque, and I would go again. It’s intimate, and because of the ring shape stage, there are no bad seats in the tent. Even in the peanut gallery where Ky and I sat, we were only 7 rows away from the action.

So, you may be wondering, what made the performance memorable. Two things:

  1. There was a guy that Ky and I called Slinky Malinky, who was, by far, the most flexible person I have ever seen. His performance was something out of the exorcist, as he twisted his head 180 degrees, used his arms as jump ropes, and twisted himself into various knots. It was hard to watch, and impossible to look away. A real circus freak!
  2. The other thing I’ll remember is how nice it was to spend an evening together with my wife. Occi is a delight and a gift, but it’s also nice to go out enjoy the company of my dearest.
