How time flies. Today marks the 200th post of this blog. Savvy observers will notice that today is the 207th day of the year, and I notionally started this project on Jan 1st, so there are a few sick days scattered through here.
The good, the bad, and the lessons.
The good: I think there has been a noticeable improvement in my writing. More than anything, this platform has allowed me to experiment with length and structure. Some sentences go on and on and on. Others don’t. Mixing up the way I write makes it more engaging, at least to me, and I have even started throwing in the odd – a new for me. Preciously I have been a HEAVY user of the semicolon, so it has been novel seeing how it comes together.
The bad: there have been some shockers in the past 100. Phoenix will remain a famously poor entry.

Things have improved since then!
A lesson I have learned working on this project is not to let things rest. When my wife and I went of a week long road trip in the South West, I planned on writing a mega post detailing the events. It never materialized, and trying to recreate it now would almost certainly be an inferior product.
Growth: I will remain cagey about subscriber numbers, but we’re in the double figures. Even more exciting, last week we got our first organic follower; someone I knew but not someone I have spruiked it to. That was cool.
Best posts: I think my best post so far was my review of the 2024 Boat Race, you can read it HERE. Other things I have enjoyed writing about are politics, food, and friends.
You may have noticed my writing about our soon to be born child is limited, and it will likely stay that way for now. I imagine once they come along it will be all encompassing, so this little part of the internet will remain a refuge.
Thanks for reading!
