There have been a bunch of things that I think I am bad at which I have been working at for a while. There have, however, been a few examples recently where I surprised myself with my progress, simply by looking backwards.
Take my French practice, par exemple. Due to the structure of the course (DuoLingo for those interested), you’re always being progressed along. Which is fine, but it does mean you’re always in the challenge zone, which means you’re always feeling pretty average. It’s only when you do some revision of earlier chapters when you think, hey, I’ve got this!
The same thing happened today trying to sort out a domain and set up a Google workspace. In the past, it has taken me literal days to get it figured out, with pointing DNS records in the right direction and figuring out how everything works. This time round, 15 minutes.
Sometimes we really do have to stop and smell the roses
