Note: I received some feedback that yesterday’s post didn’t make much sense. I was distracted while writing it, my apologies. The gist of it was that while I found the Trump/Lex interview dull, the epilogue was quite interesting. Analogically, it was a bland main course followed by a tasty dessert.
Today was a useful day in terms of learning and development, particularly with regards to AI.
Many of you know that I am a ChatGPT fan. I genuinely fall in love with it every week as it offer a new and cool feature that makes my life better and richer.
But today, I started an affair with ChatGPTs bitter neighbour, Claude. I kept hearing rumours about it, and lo and behold, the excitement is real.
Claude is AWESOME when it comes to what I would describe as computer tasks. In particular, asking to decode large excel spreadsheets was nothing but a drop in the ocean for this bad boy. So yes, I am signed up for Claude Pro now, and no, I don’t regret it.
The other lesson I learned today was how to use the API side of ChatGPT. Think of this as a repeatable engine, where you can automate or loop requests. Imagine if you wanted to get the three largest cities of 150 random countries you have. Instead of prompting it 150 times, you could create a python script, connect it with an API secret key, and run the prompt “What are the three biggest cities in {country}” and then have it cycle through every country in a list. It might not sound super useful, but god dam, it saved me literally days of work.
I look forward to using both tools in the future more.
