  • Take off

I’m off. Tonight I am flying back to Australia for two weeks to attend one of my best friend’s weddings. I genuinely can’t wait, although it is going to be FULL NOISE when I touch down. Thankfully, I’ve got the exit aisle, a true blessing. See y’all soon.

  • Prepared for the panel

My wife spoke at an New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) panel discussion today. Alongside her was Jared Polis, the current Governor of Colorado, Judith “Crusher” Collins, senior cabinet member of the New Zealand National Party and former party leader, the head of the Denver Development & Economic org, and the Country Manager for Xero,…

  • Dark side of the moon

Today was Solar Eclipse Day. Unfortunately, in Denver it was only partial (~70%) eclipse day, but still, it was super cool. I thought I’d share a few notes from this historic day. Many of you have probably already seen this image, which tracks the percentage of AirBnbs that are occupied. As you can see, it…

  • Windy City

The world is full of diverse views, and it always amazes me what people like, even when it comes to weather. Some people, and I think they’re mad, love humid weather. Others, like my old housemate, thought the moody grey skies of northern Scotland the Platonic ideal. But whatever people like, the exception seems to…

  • End of a era, or at least season

Today my wife and I returned our skis. It was a hell of a deal, and the convenience of having your own skis for a whole season was terrific, but there was still an element of sadness returning the sticks over. The season isn’t entirely over, but for us, it is. Let’s spin the highlight…

  • Delivering the goods

This week I had two main projects, build and deploy a machine learning algorithm that calculates the expected Series A valuation of a founder, based on their past experience, as well as a video demo of the product I am working on. My skills and experiences in both fields is limited, and the due date…

Why I started this blog

I don’t really use Social Media anymore; I’m too young for Facebook, too old for SnapChat, too normie for Discord and too boring for Instagram. While this buys me back time and peace of mind, it means that it can sometimes be difficult to share my life with my friends and family outside of phone calls and in-person meetups. As I live overseas, this can be a difficulty.

With this in mind, and inspired my friend Dan Cullum (check out his fantastic site HERE), I have started a daily blog. Not only will I be able to share my ideas, news, and stories to friends and family, but it serves as a time capsule as I move through life. In the future, I look forward to seeing how my views, opinions, and ideas change over time. At the very least, it is an exercise in discipline, and may be of interest to my descendants at some time in the future.

While I imagine most followers of this blog will be friends and family, all are welcome to subscribe. Feel free to email at harry@harrywetherall.com, I reply to every message, and would love to hear from you.
