  • Flight fatigue

Our long series of flights this trip is almost over; thank goodness. We are descending into Auckland now, and due to some foul weather in Melbourne, we’ve been slightly delayed. If we get to our car by 1:30 AM, we will have done well. Ky and I are very fortunate to be able to spend…

  • Wedding

I’m just driving home in the Uber after our good friend’s wedding. As always, it was a blast. My favourite weddings are cross-cultural occasions, and that’s what this was. The bride grew up in Vancouver, her husband in Melbourne. To add to the variety, her father was born in Trinidad, her mother in the Phillipines….

  • Cooking

It was 43degrees Celsius, 109 degrees Fahrenheit today. Far, far too hot. Tomorrow will be milder, but thank god for AC.

  • Nap time

Octavia is now firmly on a single, two hour nap schedule from 12-2. These days, as I wake up well before dawn to make North American calls, it has been my nap time as well!

  • The Mitre Tavern

Today was Australian Monday, but American Sunday, so I took a much needed day of rest. Sort of. It still started at 6:30, and we had to move house, and there are always tasks to do. But I did get the chance to spend 2.5 hours catching up with my oldest pal at the Mitre…

  • Birthday dinner

I am back in Melbourne for a friend’s wedding, and last night was treated to a three course birthday dinner put on by my sisters. It was very special. I love spending time with my sisters and their partners, and it’s always hard with us being split over oceans. The really went all out, including…

Why I started this blog

I don’t really use Social Media anymore; I’m too young for Facebook, too old for SnapChat, too normie for Discord and too boring for Instagram. While this buys me back time and peace of mind, it means that it can sometimes be difficult to share my life with my friends and family outside of phone calls and in-person meetups. As I live overseas, this can be a difficulty.

With this in mind, and inspired my friend Dan Cullum (check out his fantastic site HERE), I have started a daily blog. Not only will I be able to share my ideas, news, and stories to friends and family, but it serves as a time capsule as I move through life. In the future, I look forward to seeing how my views, opinions, and ideas change over time. At the very least, it is an exercise in discipline, and may be of interest to my descendants at some time in the future.

While I imagine most followers of this blog will be friends and family, all are welcome to subscribe. Feel free to email at harry@harrywetherall.com, I reply to every message, and would love to hear from you.
