  • Snow Day

Two nights ago, it snowed. It has been three years since we lived out here in the mountains, and I must say, I still love it when we get blanketed in the white stuff. There are downsides; it is COLD, it feels like 90% of the drivers must have moved to the state from Hawaii…

  • Ups and downs

Today was Martin Luther King Day over in the States. It’s not widely observed, so Ky and I decided to do our own thing. MLK lived an interesting life, full of ups and downs, soaring highs and crushing lows. Do you know who also experiences that regularly? The average cowboy competing at the Denver Stock…

  • IKEA

We’re back state-side, and apart from getting better from a pesky illness, our main goal today was a mission to IKEA. I don’t love the Swedish behemoth (although I certainly don’t hate it), but I see why people do. It’s a company that really, really tries. They clearly have an army of people figuring out…

  • All over

I am sitting on the tarmac at SFO, preparing to make our final leg to Denver, and home. It’s been 58 days since we were last in town. We’re very fortunate to be able to spend this time in Aus and NZ over the past two months. We have done and seen a lot: two…

  • El Greco

It is our last night in Auckland. We’re staying with friends where there is a very, very good neighborhood restaurant, El Greco. It’s the restaurant everyone wishes they owned. Delicious, unpretentious, generous. The place is family owned, and you can tell who the owners are as they swirl around, check how you’re going, catch up…

  • The Real Problem

Xabi Alonso, the (former) head coach of Real Madrid, was sacked this week. He lasted six months. This is not a post about football; it’s a meditation on leadership. In the past I have often used the example of “being the coach of Real Madrid” when thinking about leading high performing teams; it will often…

Why I started this blog

I don’t really use Social Media anymore; I’m too young for Facebook, too old for SnapChat, too normie for Discord and too boring for Instagram. While this buys me back time and peace of mind, it means that it can sometimes be difficult to share my life with my friends and family outside of phone calls and in-person meetups. As I live overseas, this can be a difficulty.

With this in mind, and inspired my friend Dan Cullum (check out his fantastic site HERE), I have started a daily blog. Not only will I be able to share my ideas, news, and stories to friends and family, but it serves as a time capsule as I move through life. In the future, I look forward to seeing how my views, opinions, and ideas change over time. At the very least, it is an exercise in discipline, and may be of interest to my descendants at some time in the future.

While I imagine most followers of this blog will be friends and family, all are welcome to subscribe. Feel free to email at harry@harrywetherall.com, I reply to every message, and would love to hear from you.
