  • Day Date

Today Ky and I had a lunch date together. If you have young children, I would highly recommend it. Octavia was looked after by Aunty Victoria, although 80%+ was just her napping. We were able to have a long, luscious, two hour meal, and come back full, happy, and able to take the reins again…

  • Decade

10 years ago, our family adopted two cats, Pinger and The Other One. Overtime, Pinger was renamed to Paddy, and sadly passed. Other One, as she was more commonly known, became Little One, and recently turned 10. Happy birthday Little One!

  • The Year

It is the last day of the year, so what better time to reflect on 2025. Overall, it has been a wonderful year, and largely fulfilling. Here is my best effort at trying to capture my reflections of the past 365 days. The fulfilled Overall, 2025 was a very good year. It was particularly busy;…

  • Baby Olive

I became an uncle a few days ago. Olive Isla Pattison was born on the 19th of December, and she’s been a real joy to her parents. Ky’s sister, Dee, has been putting on a mothering masterclass as we stay with them to help out. It’s very rare to see newborn babies. They’re often sheltered…

  • History

I picked up a book today for $1.50, Origins of the Second World War, by A.J.P Taylor. I’m already 50 pages in. I don’t read much history. In fact, the last real historical literature I read was probably back in high school, where we looking into this very issue. Despite being somewhat familiar with the…

  • Fishing Rod

I saw a woman fishing the other day while walking with Octavia. Incredibly, she caught one while we were watching! Not to be outdone, I found a $40 rod on Facebook marketplace, some hooks and sinkers, and tonight, cast off. Not even a nibble. But it was 45 minutes spent enjoying the sunset, listening to…

Why I started this blog

I don’t really use Social Media anymore; I’m too young for Facebook, too old for SnapChat, too normie for Discord and too boring for Instagram. While this buys me back time and peace of mind, it means that it can sometimes be difficult to share my life with my friends and family outside of phone calls and in-person meetups. As I live overseas, this can be a difficulty.

With this in mind, and inspired my friend Dan Cullum (check out his fantastic site HERE), I have started a daily blog. Not only will I be able to share my ideas, news, and stories to friends and family, but it serves as a time capsule as I move through life. In the future, I look forward to seeing how my views, opinions, and ideas change over time. At the very least, it is an exercise in discipline, and may be of interest to my descendants at some time in the future.

While I imagine most followers of this blog will be friends and family, all are welcome to subscribe. Feel free to email at harry@harrywetherall.com, I reply to every message, and would love to hear from you.
