  • Delivered

If there is one thing I love about the US, is how accessible delivery is here. Today has been a great example. One of our credit cards gave us a $100 voucher to REI, an outdoor retailer, and so along with some points I was able to get a pair of sick new runners for…

  • TACO

There is a new nickname doing the rounds, and for once, it’s pointed AT Donald Trump; not generated by him. I’m a fan of nicknames. I am an even bigger fan of ones that have real world effects. Marco Rubio looked like a political phenom in 2015, until Trump ended his career with “Little Marco”….

  • Oliver Twist

I have been putting my library card to good use, and picked up a hard copy of Oliver Twist. This evening, because it’s a Friday and I’m a wanton hedonist, I had a peppermint tea and read the first four chapters. Oliver Twist is a bit like Genesis or Fight Club, you don’t have to…

  • Dinner Guest

We had a friend round for dinner this evening; as usual, we have a roast chicken for mid week festivities. Korey is an interesting guy. Both he and Kylene went to Auckland University together, and surprisingly, were both fans of the hit TV show, The Apprentice. In fact, it was in one of those episodes…

  • 500

Today I hit a 500 day streak on DuoLingo. It’s crazy that this has been part of my day to day for almost two years. It’s been primarily used for French and Spanish. While certainly not perfect, it allowed Ky and I to visit France and Mexico and get by, order food, pick up a…

  • Ok, Google

The house we’re staying in has a Google home set up, where you can talk to your appliances and make them work. It’s ok. I don’t hate them like I hate the dishwasher. And it’s cool to be able to turn the lights off at night and not have to get up. But it isn’t…

Why I started this blog

I don’t really use Social Media anymore; I’m too young for Facebook, too old for SnapChat, too normie for Discord and too boring for Instagram. While this buys me back time and peace of mind, it means that it can sometimes be difficult to share my life with my friends and family outside of phone calls and in-person meetups. As I live overseas, this can be a difficulty.

With this in mind, and inspired my friend Dan Cullum (check out his fantastic site HERE), I have started a daily blog. Not only will I be able to share my ideas, news, and stories to friends and family, but it serves as a time capsule as I move through life. In the future, I look forward to seeing how my views, opinions, and ideas change over time. At the very least, it is an exercise in discipline, and may be of interest to my descendants at some time in the future.

While I imagine most followers of this blog will be friends and family, all are welcome to subscribe. Feel free to email at harry@harrywetherall.com, I reply to every message, and would love to hear from you.
