  • GitHub

I don’t fully understand, but now I have a GitHub, and not only that, I use it! For those who’d don’t know what GitHub is, it’s a repository for code. It’s got a few purposes; it’s a portfolio, you can see what other people have done, and you can store the various iterations of your…

  • Day One

It’s the start of the Australian Test Summer, and I’m pumped! It’s not only on at the perfect time (7:30pm start) but it’s against one of my favourite teams to see, India. It’s just hit lunch, and it looks like the Indians have really struggled. The pitch isn’t doing a huge amount, but the bowling…

  • 600 Club

The St Catz Rugby Club just ticked over 600 followers on social media, which is clearly cause for a celebration. Whether they’re university clubs, or sporting clubs, and especially university sporting clubs, that usually includes having a pint. Or in this case, 600. Despite not pulling on the blue and claret jersey for a while,…

  • Done is better than perfect

It’s late. I’ve been working for hours on trying to do something which I thought would be relatively straightforward, but turned out to be anything but. I looked on forums, asked two different LLMs, and spent hours seeing if I could knit something together quite nicely. Turns out, I should have just made something ugly,…

  • Politics on the Edge

That’s the name of the book I have just started reading, by former British MP Rory Stewart. I’m only a few pages in, but so far, it looks great. It comes highly recommended, so I will get back to you when I am finished.

  • Lark at the park

We have had two family outings to the park this weekend, and each time we saw some rather peculiar things. On Saturday, we saw an orthodox Jewish couple walking the lake in the opposite direction to us, an entirely unremarkable occasion. Or at least it was until a runner, who for reasons unknown, deemed it…

Why I started this blog

I don’t really use Social Media anymore; I’m too young for Facebook, too old for SnapChat, too normie for Discord and too boring for Instagram. While this buys me back time and peace of mind, it means that it can sometimes be difficult to share my life with my friends and family outside of phone calls and in-person meetups. As I live overseas, this can be a difficulty.

With this in mind, and inspired my friend Dan Cullum (check out his fantastic site HERE), I have started a daily blog. Not only will I be able to share my ideas, news, and stories to friends and family, but it serves as a time capsule as I move through life. In the future, I look forward to seeing how my views, opinions, and ideas change over time. At the very least, it is an exercise in discipline, and may be of interest to my descendants at some time in the future.

While I imagine most followers of this blog will be friends and family, all are welcome to subscribe. Feel free to email at harry@harrywetherall.com, I reply to every message, and would love to hear from you.
