Preparing
I am spending four days doing the single parenting thing this week while Ky is in Nashville. Fingers crossed. This afternoon/evening was dedicated to prepping. Meals are planned for. Schedules set. Snacks baked and ready to deploy. It will make a huge difference.

Sleep pressure
Our daughter doesn’t seem to need much sleep these days. While that is a blessing for her in the future (after all, minimizing sleep requirements maximizes life opportunity), for now, it’s a challenge. In the space of a week, she has gone from exhausted, with eyes barely open, at 7:45 to party girl at 9:30.…

Chills, they’re multiplying
Summer is coming to an end, slowly. The days are still glorious, but the mornings are starting to get a little chilly. It was 8 when we took our morning walk together, which isn’t cold, but it is cool. After a few months of consistent 30+ days, it’s a welcome change.

Eating the frog
Yesterday I mentioned how I was struggling to get out of 3rd gear. Today you’ll be glad to hear things went much better. Part of this was doing the hard things that you have been putting off. In my instance, it was getting back to the daily habit of weighing myself first thing. From there,…

3rd gear
Sometimes, I’m not super productive. It clusters; the days I don’t do as much I hoped to in the office are the same days I don’t achieve my fitness, social, and/or extra-curricular goals. It feels like I can’t get out of 3rd gear. Tomorrow will be better.

Vancouver, a review
I’m flying back from our three days in Vancouver, happy and full. It was a great trip. Last time I was out here I thought the place was a complete dump, and I’m glad to say my perspective has improved. Visiting in the depths of winter, for many people, doesn’t give you the full picture.…

Chicken Dinner
I love making roast chicken. It is, by far, the hardest dish I know how to make. The good news is that tonight, my chicken was a 9/10. As the hero of the dish, that’s a great sign. But the potatoes were a 7/10, and the vegetables and sauce utterly forgettable. I’ve knocked various parts…

Vancouver
Honestly, not too bad, especially in the summer. We had a lovely day, going to a children’s farm, including peacocks, enjoying some paddling pool fun, and finishing off with a trip to a cosy wine bar. I can see the appeal. The closeness to nature, both beach and snow, is a MASSIVE WIN TODAY. The…

En route
Due to a screw up with flights, we ended up with a fast expiring credit with United. Not wanting to waste it, we decided to go visit Vancouver for the weekend. Ky has already headed off with Swock, and I’m writing this from the tarmac, about to take off. I’m looking forward to it, and…

Boys night
Ky and Occi are off to Vancouver today, enjoying sometime with a few good friends of ours. Due to work, I’m flying out tomorrow afternoon. It should be fun. With an empty house, I invited three other dads around for some steak and potatoes. We talked about everything and nothing; from supersonic flight, to how…
