A good friend and I have been meaning to watch the Jimmy Carr movie, Fackham Hall, for about six months now. There has been a lot of shuffling around with dates; we both have young daughters, we both have jobs that require us to travel some of the time, and we both have extra-curricular activities that we need to keep on top of. Last night, after weeks of back and forth, became THE NIGHT.
I hosted, and made my number one boys’ night meal, Steak Frites with a (Chinese inspired) au poivre jus. While I can’t say I nailed the sauce, it was pretty damn close.
The funny thing is, we never got to the movie. Whether it was the Old Fashioneds or the Merlots that got in our way, but we had so much fun talking at the table that we never made it to the couch, and had to rain check again.
I’m not complaining, it was a great evening.
