  • Stages

It’s a silly thing, but the last two weeks I feel as though I have been going through the five stages of grief over a football transfer. Long story short, it looks like Newcastle’s best player is going to move to Liverpool. It is pretty disastrous for the club. Originally I was in denial, surely…

  • Planning

August is a busy month for me. I’m back in Aus for a week, then off to Europe two weeks afterwards for a friend’s weddings. It’s a lot to plan for. One thing that has added to the puzzle is planning work for my team while away. I manage a (very) small team at the…

  • Demi-glacé

I have been making my own chicken stocks for a while; they’re super easy to do if you have ever roast chicken (which we do regularly!). This was, however, the first time I ever did her big, beefier, brother; the Demi-glacé. It took two days, but I have finally reduced almost 5 litres of water…

  • A night at the circus

With the grandparents looking after Octavia, Ky and I have been taking the opportunity to enjoy some dates together. Last night, we went to Cirque du Soleil. If you haven’t been, I HIGHLY recommend it. Whether you’re young or old, there is a sense of wonder, magic, and amazement seeing acrobats and circus performers hurl…

  • Pulling the boots on

Today I joined the Denver Bulldogs, arguably the Real Madrid of USA based Australian Rules Football clubs. It was a blast, but boy, I’m sore writing this now. Hopefully I’ll toughen back up quick smart. Playing Australian Rules Football internationally is an interesting experience. The main difference is that the teams often have huge deltas…

  • The three Bs

When I worked in banking back in NZ, I remember my boss explaining why our employer didn’t have a Private Banking arm. For those who aren’t familiar with the term, Private Banking is essentially a more hands-on, bespoke service that is offered to high net worth individuals. It’s very profitable. The issue, or so he…

Why I started this blog

I don’t really use Social Media anymore; I’m too young for Facebook, too old for SnapChat, too normie for Discord and too boring for Instagram. While this buys me back time and peace of mind, it means that it can sometimes be difficult to share my life with my friends and family outside of phone calls and in-person meetups. As I live overseas, this can be a difficulty.

With this in mind, and inspired my friend Dan Cullum (check out his fantastic site HERE), I have started a daily blog. Not only will I be able to share my ideas, news, and stories to friends and family, but it serves as a time capsule as I move through life. In the future, I look forward to seeing how my views, opinions, and ideas change over time. At the very least, it is an exercise in discipline, and may be of interest to my descendants at some time in the future.

While I imagine most followers of this blog will be friends and family, all are welcome to subscribe. Feel free to email at harry@harrywetherall.com, I reply to every message, and would love to hear from you.
