  • Masculinity

I quite like the academic Scott Galloway, better know as Professor G. A marketing professor at NYU, he has gained far more reach with his commentary on the world at large, particularly its issues. I subscribe to his weekly newsletter (you can do so HERE), which is always worth reading. I recently heard him on…

  • Distraction List

Don’t you hate it when you’re trying to focus on some work, and the merest of distractions shanghaies your attention (‘just for a second’, you tell yourself)? I know it’s slurped an impossibly large amount of my time over the past three and a bit decades. Discipline works, but it’s hard, and fallible, so we…

  • Branche, bébé, branche!

There are many Trump quotes, some of which I like. One I am not so keen on is “drill, baby, drill”, referring to his love of expanding oil exploration in the US, particularly in protected areas. While I am a big fan of fracking, I’m not fully onboard with this. Regardless of my own views,…

  • Supply and Demand

The final of the Carabao Cup, the little brother of the FA Cup, is due to be held on March 16th at Wembley. It’s a date pencilled into my calendar, for as a long suffering Newcastle United fan, they have somehow, against the odds, made it to the big dance. Out of curiosity, I went…

  • Core memories

I spoke with two friends today over Zoom, one of whom is training to be a psychiatrist. As our chat waxed and waned, we ended up on the topic of core memories, a term borrowed from the Pixar (?) classic, Inside Out. Core Memories are memories that don’t just stick; they shape. Good, bad, ugly,…

  • One of many

If you had to name the most famous painting in the world, you’d probably land on the Mona Lisa. However, if you asked for the second one, you’d probably end up with either The Scream or The Wave. It’s an image I have seen countless times, but today, there were three things that stuck out…

Why I started this blog

I don’t really use Social Media anymore; I’m too young for Facebook, too old for SnapChat, too normie for Discord and too boring for Instagram. While this buys me back time and peace of mind, it means that it can sometimes be difficult to share my life with my friends and family outside of phone calls and in-person meetups. As I live overseas, this can be a difficulty.

With this in mind, and inspired my friend Dan Cullum (check out his fantastic site HERE), I have started a daily blog. Not only will I be able to share my ideas, news, and stories to friends and family, but it serves as a time capsule as I move through life. In the future, I look forward to seeing how my views, opinions, and ideas change over time. At the very least, it is an exercise in discipline, and may be of interest to my descendants at some time in the future.

While I imagine most followers of this blog will be friends and family, all are welcome to subscribe. Feel free to email at harry@harrywetherall.com, I reply to every message, and would love to hear from you.
