I was bitten by a wasp today. It’s not something I think I have ever experienced, and unsurprisingly, not one I will be running back to repeat. Pain is a hard thing to describe. This particular sting felt like a hot wire poked onto the back of my hand, which is unusual in two ways:…

  • Prompting

I have been a fan of language learning recently, and today I think I added a new one; prompt engineering. Not fluent, by any means, but at least I have started. Prompt engineering is a lot of things, but at its most basic, it’s talking to LLMs in a way that maximises efficiency. Think of…

Perplexity is one of my favourite Large Language, but today, I thought they did something really cool. Many of you may have heard about DeepSeek, a Chinese model that isn’t only incredibly powerful, but startlingly cheap. It only had one downside; it was clearly a propaganda tool. For weeks, there were endless memes in the…

  • Alive

Oscar Jenkins, my former school buddy, has been found alive in Russia. For those who don’t remember, Oscar has enlisted to fight for the Ukrainian Foreign Legion, and had been captured two months ago by Russian forces. I wrote about it HERE. My fear was that once captured, the chance of Mr Jenkins staying alive…

I used to practice Inbox Zero, or at least my version of it. To do this, I more or less opened every email, with the occasional “mark all as read” cheat. It worked, until it didn’t. The rate I signed up for things exceeded the rate I unsubscribed, and over the years, it has grown…

I played my first game of golf today. No wonder it’s popular. As I sit here writing this, a bit sunburnt and a little worse for wear, I look back on today as a good one. What surprised me most was that the barrier to entry was far lower than I thought. Having barely done…

Why I started this blog

I don’t really use Social Media anymore; I’m too young for Facebook, too old for SnapChat, too normie for Discord and too boring for Instagram. While this buys me back time and peace of mind, it means that it can sometimes be difficult to share my life with my friends and family outside of phone calls and in-person meetups. As I live overseas, this can be a difficulty.

With this in mind, and inspired my friend Dan Cullum (check out his fantastic site HERE), I have started a daily blog. Not only will I be able to share my ideas, news, and stories to friends and family, but it serves as a time capsule as I move through life. In the future, I look forward to seeing how my views, opinions, and ideas change over time. At the very least, it is an exercise in discipline, and may be of interest to my descendants at some time in the future.

While I imagine most followers of this blog will be friends and family, all are welcome to subscribe. Feel free to email at harry@harrywetherall.com, I reply to every message, and would love to hear from you.
