I have been asked by one of my best friend’s to be his best man and organise his Stag Do. He did the same for me many years ago, and it is an honour to do the favour.
Organising things isn’t my strong suit, but friendship is, so I am giving myself plenty of time to figure it out. With these things, often the hardest part is wrangling together all the moving parts. Of the 17 people coming, I know only half. The event will be in Australia, I am currently based in the US. And while I have names and emails, I don’t have any reliable way of contacting them (yet!).
But so far, so good. I have some preliminary plans, and have decided to take a command and conquer approach. Too often when planning a group exercise, it descends into “I don’t care what it is, I’m happy with whatever” (Narrator: They were, in fact, not happy with whatever). In this instance, I have made the preliminary plans (region, activities etc), and once I start getting feedback, adjust accordingly.
Thank you to Reddit and ChatGPT for helping me do a lot of the planning. Here’s hoping to a fun weekend, and if anyone has any advice or tips, please let me know!
