  • Postpartum

So, we did it. Or at least Ky did it, and I cheered her on. Now, it was time for some well earned rest. We honestly couldn’t have had a better time at Rose Hospital. After the delivery, we spent two days in the hospital, which originally I thought was overkill. Two days! I want…

  • Delivery

When Ky and I woke up on Monday morning, the first thing I heard was that she was 3cm dilated (the goal is 10) and it was all systems go. Today was the day. We were going to become parents. It started slowly. Over the next two or three hours, it was simply a waiting…

  • Labour

I guess it started at the H-Mart. In what feels like a lifetime ago, Ky and I were spending a quiet Sunday in Aurora picking up a few noms and lunch. As we drove back, I distinctly remember us discussing how frustrating it was that baby hadn’t arrived yet, and how Ky had already burned…

  • Welcome to the world!

Yesterday, Ky and I welcomed our first child to the world, Octavia Bari Jones Wetherall. It’s a bit of a mouthful, so we just call her Occi (pronounced Oc-ki) for now. Perhaps she’ll be a Tavie, Ava, O, or Tavs in future. Who knows? A lot of my high school friends call me Menez, and…

  • Number 1

Two weeks ago I switched from French to Spanish, and while hesitant, I realised that I had made the right decision. Firstly, SO much of what I learned in French translates right over, which has been super helpful. Secondly, the structure of Spanish, both in terms of speaking and writing, feels more straightforward. Maybe that…

  • Misplaced Reputation

Today, we ventured out to the notorious Aurora, known for its lawlessness and violent Venezuelan gangs. In the same way Springfield, Ohio is known as the home of cat-eating Haitians (or so they say…), Aurora is the Caracas of the Mountain West. If that’s the case, the gangs must have taken a long weekend, because…

Why I started this blog

I don’t really use Social Media anymore; I’m too young for Facebook, too old for SnapChat, too normie for Discord and too boring for Instagram. While this buys me back time and peace of mind, it means that it can sometimes be difficult to share my life with my friends and family outside of phone calls and in-person meetups. As I live overseas, this can be a difficulty.

With this in mind, and inspired my friend Dan Cullum (check out his fantastic site HERE), I have started a daily blog. Not only will I be able to share my ideas, news, and stories to friends and family, but it serves as a time capsule as I move through life. In the future, I look forward to seeing how my views, opinions, and ideas change over time. At the very least, it is an exercise in discipline, and may be of interest to my descendants at some time in the future.

While I imagine most followers of this blog will be friends and family, all are welcome to subscribe. Feel free to email at harry@harrywetherall.com, I reply to every message, and would love to hear from you.
