  • Blog Post #47: Lunar New Year

Last weekend was the Lunar, or Chinese New Year, which is one of my favourite celebrations of the year. As someone who married into the tradition, it is less about the historical significance, and more of a chance to spend time with friends and family and enjoy a succulent Chinese meal. Last year we went…

  • Blog Post #46: Inception

Tonight, my wife and I decided to watch a movie. It’s not a common occurrence for us; unless we’re on a plane, we watch very few films together. With so little quantity on offer, we have to go for quality. This evening, we ended up watching the classic film Inception. If you haven’t seen it,…

  • Blog Post #45: Carbonara

As you may know, I love to cook, and today I decided to turn it up a notch and make carbonara with fresh pasta. It didn’t work perfectly; I think the guiancialle was cut too thickly, and I could have had a thicker consistency in my sauce. Regardless, it was a decent first effort, and…

  • Blog Post #44: Valentine’s Day

My wife and I are not big fans of Valentine’s Day. The idea of being crowbarred into overpriced restaurants or flowers feels like the absolute opposite of romantic to the two of us. That said, we still like to do something special to celebrate. This year, Ky got us a short-term subscription to a Japanese…

  • Blog Post #43: Obligatory Taylor Swift Post

The world is going crazy for Taylor Swift, which means that anyone who writes, whether for an audience or for themselves, has at some point been ontologically required to write how they feel about the global superstar. I thought now was as good as ever to throw in my two cents. There are multiple ways…

  • Blog Post #42: Super Bowl

If you haven’t already seen the news, the Kansas City Chiefs went back to back yesterday, and no, Taylor Swift didn’t become engaged to her star boyfriend, Travis Kelce. But you don’t come to this blog for the news, you come here the views. First off, it was a fabulous game. The 49ers felt like…

Why I started this blog

I don’t really use Social Media anymore; I’m too young for Facebook, too old for SnapChat, too normie for Discord and too boring for Instagram. While this buys me back time and peace of mind, it means that it can sometimes be difficult to share my life with my friends and family outside of phone calls and in-person meetups. As I live overseas, this can be a difficulty.

With this in mind, and inspired my friend Dan Cullum (check out his fantastic site HERE), I have started a daily blog. Not only will I be able to share my ideas, news, and stories to friends and family, but it serves as a time capsule as I move through life. In the future, I look forward to seeing how my views, opinions, and ideas change over time. At the very least, it is an exercise in discipline, and may be of interest to my descendants at some time in the future.

While I imagine most followers of this blog will be friends and family, all are welcome to subscribe. Feel free to email at harry@harrywetherall.com, I reply to every message, and would love to hear from you.
