Annual Physical
16 months ago, I had my very first Annual Physical. You can read about it HERE. Today, I had my second. It was a lot faster this time. Stroll in, take some measurements, check the blood pressure, hop on the scales, make awkward eye contact as the doctor goes into detail about the importance of…

Anything you want
I finished reading Derek Siver’s book Anything you want. It’s a super short read, maybe 90 minutes tops, and contains 40 lessons learned starting, running, and then selling CD Baby. I had never heard of CD Baby, but in the early 2000s, it was THE place to buy independent music online. There were a few…

On the edge
Octavia fell ill on Friday, and since then, Ky and I have been on the edge. Will we get sick, will we survive? Right now, my bet is 50/50. We have done somethings right. Today was a relaxed day, and we have been loading up on water, vitamin C, and Ky took a much needed…

Invited
25 years ago, we had a cat. His name morphed from Hector, to Puddy, to Dr J across his lifestyle, but there was one thing that remained constant; we kids ADORED him. Even now, when we rate the 25+ cats we have had over our lifetime, he is always, always on top. Truly the GOAT.…

Halfway
Harry Selfridge is famous for two things, but he should be more famous for three. The most obvious claim to fame is his eponymous departments stores in London, Selfridges. Their success led to his second claim; his tremendous wealth. Known as the Lord of Oxford Street, at the peak of his powers he was worth…

I, Cloudius
I deployed my first program to the cloud today. It wasn’t on my 2026 bingo card list, but I’m glad I did. For those who are unfamiliar with cloud computing, here is my best guess at what is happening; you’re essentially outsourcing the computing demands from your machine to a bigger, more powerful one. All…

Boys Night
A good friend and I have been meaning to watch the Jimmy Carr movie, Fackham Hall, for about six months now. There has been a lot of shuffling around with dates; we both have young daughters, we both have jobs that require us to travel some of the time, and we both have extra-curricular activities…

Mystery Man
If you are participating in an Olympic Games themed trivia night, one of the final questions might be “Who is the youngest person to win an Olympic Gold Medal?”. Seems a fairly straightforward question, you either know it or don’t. Or so you might think; it actually might be a bit more complex. In probably…

Going, Going, Memorial Day!
Today was Memorial Day, the other federal holiday that recognises the sacrifices made by the armed forces. Later in the year, the nation commemorates Veterans Day, which focuses on those who served. Memorial Day is dedicated to those who died serving. You wouldn’t guess it though. What should be a solemn and respectful day has…

Ulcer
I have not one, but two ulcers, on my inner lip. What a pain. They make eating and drinking considerably less enjoyable, and while not contagious, are certainly an annoyance. Would not recommend.
